Graphics Are So Impressive These Days refers to an exploitable four-frame image featuring a close-up of the eyes displayed in video games like Hellblade, Horizon and The Last of Us Part II. The image was posted on Twitter / X in early June 2024, with the fourth frame in the graphic comparison montage being replaced by ironic images featuring games with other types of graphics, some of them being more abstract or not ultra-realistic, to make fun of the examples in the image.

Origin

On May 23rd, 2024, X[1] user @PainkillerQ8 posted a four-panel montage featuring a close-up of the eyes displayed in modern video games like Hellblade, Horizon, God of War and The Last of Us Part II_. The post (seen below) amassed more than 4,300 likes and 3,600 reposts in a month.

A week after @PainkillerQ8's post went viral, X[2] user @SFBTom replaced Kratos' eye picture on June 1st, 2024, with a pixelated image from the survival game Crow Country (seen below, left) alongside the ironic caption, "Graphics are so impressive these days." The image amassed more than 5,900 likes and 620 reposts in two weeks.

On June 6th, 2024, X[3] user @The_Gutter_ posted a version of the meme featuring a boss from the Bloodborne game (seen below, right), which garnered over 52,000 likes and 4,500 reposts in four days.
