Grab His Dick and Twist It, continued Twist That Dick! The Ol' Dick Twist, is a catchphrase and viral video taken at an MMA fight in which a male fan was shouting for the fighter to twist the other guy's penis, calling it, "the old dick twist." The clip was recorded by another crowd member who was egging him on while also being confused. The original video was posted on Twitter in 2018, soon spreading as a meme to YouTube, TikTok and elsewhere going into the 2020s.

Origin

On August 28th, 2018, Twitter[1] user @davemmadden posted a video (since-deleted) that was taken at an MMA fight in which a man in the audience screamed, "Grab his dick and twist it!" @davemmadden egged him on in the video, at first playing into the bit but then breaking character when the man said, "The ol' dick twist!"

Although the tweet has since been deleted, quote retweets of @davemmadden's tweet still exist, like one posted by Twitter[2] user @Spacegoddave on August 28th. 2018. On August 29th, the Instagram[3] account @franktrigg reposted the video and tagged @davemmadden in the description. On October 10th, a screen recording of @davemmadden's original clip was posted by Twitter[4] user @DAVEYspeakss, showing that the video had gained roughly 115,000 likes in two weeks (shown below).

The video was first used in a variant meme when it was posted by Twitter[5] user @Festivillainz on August 29th, 2018, who captioned it, "When someone hates on dubstep," earning roughly 7,100 views and over 220 likes in five years (shown below).

Spread

Going into late 2018, the video resurfaced multiple times on Twitter. For instance, on September 3rd, 2018, Twitter[6] user @iPurrple tweeted the video, writing, "I've watched this multiple times and the ending gets funnier." The tweet received roughly 98,100 likes in five years (shown below).

In 2019 and 2020, the video went viral again on Twitter,[10][7] leading to a repost by TikToker[8] @mattgraves47 on September 27th, 2020, that gained roughly 332,600 plays and 25,200 likes in three years. The clip led to the use of the TikTok sound for viral memes that utilized the video's audio. For instance, on July 30th, 2022, TikToker[9] @mikegelz posted a video using the sound, earning roughly 497,800 plays and 40,300 likes in nine months (shown below).

Around the same time, in 2021, the video was reposted to YouTube[11] by the channel @TPGCHighlights, gaining roughly 838,000 views and 35,000 likes in two years. Going into 2022, YouTubers recreated the video in real life at other MMA-related events. For instance, on July 24th, 2022, YouTuber[12] @17jun1989 posted a video of that nature, earning roughly 42,000 views and 1,100 likes in nine months (shown below).
