Govy's Dream Tiger refers to an illustration by Korean artist govy9807 depicting a tiger they stated they saw in a dream. The creature wears a monstrous black mask and has black tape imitating stripes. It was posted to X / Twitter in late May 2024 and became the subject of redraws and interpretations by other artists.
Origin
On May 28, 2024, Twitter / X[1] user @govy9807 posted an illustration of a tiger they claim they saw in a dream. The post garnered over 36,000 retweets and 203,000 likes in five days (shown below).
Spread
Govy's post was instantly popular and the tiger began being redrawn in the quote-retweets that day. The following day, the tiger began seeing redraws from international users. For example, on May 30th, 2024, Twitter / X[2] user @TopherStol uploaded a redraw of Govy's tiger. The post received more than 5,500 reposts and 47,000 likes in three days (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter / X[3] user @Kuma_Kun9 uploaded a chibi version of the tiger that received more than 12,000 reposts and 55,300 likes in three days (shown below, right).
On May 31st, 2024, Twitter / X[4] user @Jeeviaz uploaded a post about people drawing Govy's tiger in various styles. The post received more than 57,000 reposts and 332,900 likes in two days (shown below).
