Google Chome RAM Hog refers to a series of jokes and memes about the high amount of computer memory needed by the internet browser Google Chrome.
Origin
On September 2, 2008, Google released its Google Chrome web browser. About four years later, in 2012, MemeCenter[1] user welsen posted a Y U NO meme about Chrome's RAM usage (shown below). The post received more than 360 likes in seven years.
Spread
Three years later, on March 25th, 2015, Redditor [2] CinnamonToesCrunch posted a variation in which a character labeled with the Chrome logo slowly eats a person labeled "RAM." The post received more than 25,000 points (93% upvoted) and 2,000 in four years comments (shown below, left).
The following month, Redditor[3] GallowBoob posted a GIF of Chrome that parodies the video game Pac-Man in which the Chrome logo eats RAM cards. The post recieved more than 8,700 points (92% upvoted) and 1,400 comments in four years (shown below, center).
On June 7th, 2019, Facebook [4] user Mustafa Amer posted a variation of the Finally, Some Good Fucking Food meme, joking about the high levels of RAM in the Mac Pro. The post received more than 160 comments (shown below, right).
