Goldy Brar Takes Responsibility For X is a catchphrase and phrasal template that satirizes news headlines about a Canada-based gangster named Goldy Brar. In May 2022, news about the death of Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala emerged. On May 29th, Canada-based gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar uploaded a Facebook post "taking responsibility" for Moosewala's death. Memes about Goldy Brar "taking responsibility" for various unrelated events became popular after April 2023.

On May 29th, 2022, the Twitter[1] account @ANI posted a series of tweets announcing the death of Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala (seen below, left). Also on May 29th, 2022, Twitter[2] account @Gagan4344 posted a series of screenshots, alleging that two Canadian men named Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar have "taken responsibility" for Moosewala's death (seen below, right).



On September 20th, 2022, the Instagram[3] page @kareenakabeta posted the earliest known meme parodying the news, gathering over 500 likes in eight months (seen below).

On December 31st, 2022, Instagram[5] page @trolling___party posted a joke headline about Goldy Brar as well, gathering over 10,000 likes in six months (seen below, right).
