Goku and Vegeta Fist Bump or Make Sure Not To Break Too Much Of Their Bones refers to a series of memes where the Dragon Ball characters Goku and Vegeta are shown fist bumping as they walk towards a crowd of characters as if about to fight them, Vegeta saying, "I will take all in the left, you go for the right" and Goku saying, "Make sure not to break too much of their bones." The original meme, showing Goku and Vegeta about to fight a group of Marvel Comics superheroes, was posted to 9GAG in 2013 and inspired numerous variations over the following years replacing aspects of the image to change the context.

Origin

On September 8th, 2013, the 9GAG Geeky Facebook[1] page posted a meme by user juhodunder (now deleted) showing Goku and Vegeta fist bumping while walking towards a massive crowd of Marvel superheroes as if about to fight them. The meme gained over 25,000 shares and 30,000 reactions in 10 years. It was also posted by the 9GAG Facebook[2] page that day, garnering over 6,700 shares and 61,000 reactions in the same span of time.

The fist bumping image first appeared online on Danbooru[3] in 2009 (shown below). In 2020, the artist, Twitter[4] user @mcjamie, made a post about the artwork, writing, "I drew this in 2009. Googling it reveals that people have gotten it tattooed on themselves. They've recreated it in cosplay. They've recreated it with figures. They've redrawn it with other characters. I'm sure it's made a lot of other people very wealthy selling it on shirts," garnering over 9,800 likes and 3,000 retweets in three years.

The meme inspired numerous redraws and variations over the following years. One of the earliest examples was posted by Tumblr[5] user megaman-crack-confessions on November 26th, 2016, replacing Goku and Vegeta with Mega Man bosses, garnering around 40 notes in seven years (shown below). On January 15th, 2019, the meme inspired a discussion on /r/whowouldwin[6] about whether Goku and Vegeta would win against the Marvel heroes or not.

On December 31st, 2021, Redditor Good_Apartment_9992 posted a version of the meme to /r/okbuddyretard[7] that garnered over 1,900 upvotes in just over a year (shown below, left). On November 20th, 2022, iFunny[8] user YourBoyAlucard posted a version of the meme referencing Plants vs. Zombies (shown below, right). The meme was reposted to Facebook[9] and Reddit's /r/PlantsVSZombies[10] board on November 21st and December 28th respectively, garnering over 140 shares on the former and 480 upvotes on the latter in roughly four months (shown below, right).

On March 28th, 2023, Twitter[11] user @ComicLoverMari posted a version of the original meme where Vegeta is killed by Ghost Rider, garnering over 8,100 likes in under 24 hours (shown below).
