God Pointing a Gun at the Earth is a reaction image macro featuring a man dressed as God holding a rifle and point it at earth (similar to I Don't Want to Live on This Planet Anymore).

Origin

The origin of the image is unknown. However, the earliest available usage of the photograph was published on December 8th, 2019 by Twitter^[1] user @meteoritasesino. They used the image to caption God reacting to the dinosaurs' inability to build churches (shown below).

Spread

That day, Facebook^[2] user AlexaSeventh7 shared the image and received more than 2,100 reactions and 1,700 shares in less than two months (shown below, left).

The image didn't spread to English-speaking meme communities until February 2020. On February 1st, 2020, Redditor^[3] Byjayen123 shared a variation with the caption "Everyone: January wasn't that bad." The post received more than 4,000 points (98% upvoted) in less than one week (shown below, center).

Three days later, on February 4th, Redditor^[4] grumpygangster shared a variation that makes a joke about "vegan lasagna." The post received more than 23,000 points (93% upvoted) and 340 comments in less than 24 hours (shown below, right).
