The Girls Dancing With Stanley Cups Video, also known as the White Women Dancing With Stanley Cups Video, refers to a viral video originally posted to TikTok showing a group of college-aged white women at a Chevron gas station dancing to the hip-hop song "Mr. Weatherall" by Young Hub City during Mardi Gras while holding Stanley Cup tumblers and Hydro Flasks. The video gained mass discourse and sparked a viral debate on Twitter / X when male users, seemingly a part of the Manosphere, reposted the video with the question Why Don't Men Want Western Women?, essentially using the video as evidence of "Western women" being non-traditional or non-trad.

Origin

On February 25th, 2024, TikToker^[1] @mr.weatherall posted a video of many college-aged, white women dancing at a Chevron gas station in Louisianna during Mardi Gras to the song "Mr. Weatherall" by Young Hub City. Over five days, the video received roughly 8.6 million plays and 782,900 likes (shown below).

The video was then reposted by X^[2] user @Playboysparadox on February 26th, 2024, who captioned it, "'Why don’t men want western women?'" gaining over 42.4 million views and 21,000 likes in four days (shown below).

X^[2] user @Playboysparadox's tweet gained backlash and criticism on the platform over the following days, evident in a quote posted by X^[3] user @TheEcho13 on February 27th, who said, "Oh no girls having fun and being silly, I wish they would be stoic and dull and masculine so I didn’t have to witness feminine energy ever again," gaining over 40,000 likes in three days (shown below, left).

Alternatively, other male users agreed with @Playboysparadox, like X^[4] user @_kruptos on February 28th, 2024, who said, "This is what deracination looks like. These people have no idea who they are. Dancing drunk in a gas station parking lot to culturally borrowed music and dances…" receiving over 1,500 likes in two days (shown below, right).

The discourse continued and became more involved in the following days, evident in a post shared by X^[5] user @TomCokeIsABlunt on February 29th, who claimed that it was "Absolutely hilarious watching far-right women desperately try to make sense of the environment they spent years cultivating, and now find themselves stuck in," gaining over 40,000 likes in a day (shown below, left).

One of the screenshots included in @TomCokeIsABlunt's post was a tweet^[6] shared by Liz Wheeler (an American conservative political commentator) on February 29th, 2024, who said, "Ok red-pillers, explain this to me. Is this bad because they’re dancing? Or dancing too sexually? Or holding alcohol? Or wearing jeans… Genuine question. Please be specific." Her quote gained over 25,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

Similar posts that criticized Liz Wheeler's tweet,^[6] and other tweets shared by female conservative political commentators about the video, also surfaced on Reddit, such as a post shared by Redditor^[7] Vctoria_R to the /r/LeopardsAteMyFace sub on March 1st, 2024, which received over 2,200 upvotes in eight hours (shown below).
