Girl With a Funny Talent, also known as "eyebrow dance", is a viral video starring an Australian teenager who performs a dance with her eyebrows to the tune of "Don't Stop the Rock" by the British electronic music group Freestyle.

Origin

On January 23rd, 2009, Glass and a Half Full Productions[7], the in-house production company for the Cadbury confectionery company, uploaded a commercial to their official YouTube channel featuring two children moving their eyebrows rapidly to the electro-funk song "Don't Stop the Rock" by Freestyle.

On December 14th, 2009, The Guardian[3] published an article revealing that the commercial had been named "the public's favourite TV advert of 2009." Within 8 months, the video had accumulated over 4 million views.

On December 29th, 2011, YouTuber theinternetisaweird uploaded a video of herself mimicking the Cadbury commercial eyebrow dance. In less than a week, the video accumulated over 12 million views.

The same day the video was uploaded, it was submitted to the /r/videos[8] subreddit by user theinternetisaweird and managed to reach the front page accumulating over 9,500 up votes in less than a week. On December 30th, 2011, the girl posted a follow-up video thanking viewers for subscribing to her channel revealing that she was 13-years-old and living in Sydney, Australia. The same day, YouTuber xBaseHead uploaded a video titled "Girl with a funny talent 2 years earlier" containing a previous recording of the girl's eyebrow dance performance.

The Daily Mail posted an article deconstructing the eyebrow dance video on December 30th, 2011. On January 2nd, 2012, SF Gate[4] published a blog post about the video's success, and revealed that the girl's first name was "Sarah." The following day, the Australian news site Nine MSN[5] published an interview with Sarah where she admitted that the new found Internet fame was exciting, but some of the comments she received were "scary."

A Facebook[1] fan page accumulated over 54,000 likes in 5 days.
