About
Girl U Find As He'll… I Won't U is an intentionally misspelled version of the sentence "girl you fine as hell, I want you" that reads as though it's been typed by someone desperate and uneducated. The phrase went viral on Twitter in June 2020 and has since been used in memes as both an ironic and unironic reaction to attractive or unattractive subjects. It is often used to make fun of the type of people who leave thirsty and unwanted comments on women's social media posts, particularly women who are out of their league.
Origin
On June 9th, 2020, Twitter[1] user @OxyKydone, now @1trustfund, tweeted, "girl u find as he’ll… i won’t u" (shown below). The post gained over 240,000 likes and 40,000 retweets in a year.
The phrase became popular on Twitter as people used it to mock the type of person who might desperately comment something similar on a user who is out of their league's posts to try and get their attention. It also began to see unironic use as users attached it to posts of attractive people or characters to express attraction for them, and to thirst traps to show their attraction to the person. On June 27th, for example, Twitter[2] user @f0lake retweeted a thirst trap by Twitter[3] user @MaKaylaMaShelle adding the caption "You find as he’ll. I won’t you 💙," gaining over 2,500 likes in a year (shown below).
Spread
By late 2020 the phrase began to spread outside of Twitter, inspiring a number of photoshops on iFunny. For example, on October 3rd, iFunny[6] user evoo posted an I May Not Show It meme using the phrase (shown below, left). On December 31st, iFunny[7] user twowuv posted a Clever Thoughts meme using a variation of the phrase (shown below, right).
On September 3rd, 2021, Twitter[4] user @4000nkabis commented a version of the Be Not Afraid meme on a post, replacing the human's text bubble with "you find as he'll," gaining over 600 likes in three weeks (shown below). On September 14th, Instagram[5] page @hyulloh posted the meme, gaining over 45,000 likes in a week.
