Gimme Pizza is the title of a rhyming singalong featured in the 1995 straight-to-VHS film You're Invited to Mary Kate and Ashley's Sleepover Party. The original video consists of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen with three other girls trying to create their ideal pizza by adding ridiculous toppings. Although the original film was created in the mid-'90s for adolescent girls, the video experienced a resurgence online during the early 2010s due to an ironic appreciation of the video's campy or kitschy qualities. This is similar to fandom of Kuso games.

Origin

The original song comes from the 1995 movie You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's Sleepover Party, which was the first part of the You're Invited to Mary-Kate & Ashley's film series. In the film, Mary-Kate, Ashley and their guests tell scary stories, play video games and order a pizza during the slumber party. At one point, the group decides to order a pizza, which arrives with nothing on it. The group then proceeds to top it with a variety of ingredients sourced from their refrigerator during their freestyle rap "Gimme Pizza."^[1]

On November 27th, 2008, YouTuber^[2] jecowa uploaded the first clip of the full song unaltered from its original format, accumulating over 5.5 million views, 28,000 likes and 5,300 dislikes in roughly 13 years (shown below).

The catalyst in sparking the video's resurgence was the slowed-down version uploaded by YouTube^[3] user philipmserious on September 22nd, 2010. The creepy nature of this version went viral, resulting in reaction videos and other remixes, accumulating over 7.4 million views and 56,000 likes in roughly 11 years (seen below).

On October 1st, 2010, YouTuber^[4] Ray William Johnson covered the slowed-down version in a clip, further amplifying the reach of the video. The clip received over 11.4 million views and 68,000 likes in roughly 11 years (shown below).

On September 30th, 2010, Urlesque^[5] featured the slowed-down version on its site. That same day, Best Week Ever^[6] then featured the video in the article "Electric Pizza Acid Test: The Olsen Twins Gimme Pizza! Song Slowed Down." The video also spread through Buzzfeed^[7] in the first week of October.
