The Gimme Head Top Dance, also known as the Gimme Head Top Song, Gimme Top Dance or Gimme Head Top AI Dance, refers to a viral dance trend using the song "BOP" by Big Boogie and DJ Drama, featuring GloRilla, centering on the lyrics, "Give me head, top." The original iteration of the dance was posted to TikTok in early 2024 by TikToker @curvejso. In May 2024, TikToker @sarahsibby posted a video, leading to a series of parodies using an AI filter that rotoscoped photos of people, characters and pets onto her video. To make the Gimme Head Top AI Dance memes, people used the AI video program Viggle AI.

Origin

On February 23rd, 2024, the music video for Big Boogie and DJ Drama's song "BOP" featuring GloRilla was uploaded to YouTube,[1] gaining over 12.5 million views in four months. At the video's 2:16-minute mark (shown below), GloRilla starts her verse that repeats, "Give me head, top."

On April 7th, TikToker[2] @curvejso posted a video of himself dancing to the song with his friend, spawning the Give Me Head Top Dance, gaining over 1.8 million plays and 293,600 likes in two months (shown below).

Spread

Going into April 2024, others replicated the dance, such as TikToker[3] @tyskinoo on April 8th, 2024, gaining over 4.2 million plays and 550,500 likes in two months (shown below, left). Also on April 8th, TikToker[4] Baby Chino performed the dance in a video receiving over 9.6 million plays and 955,000 likes in two months (shown below, right).

AI Memes

On May 6th, 2024, TikToker[4] @sarahsibby posted a video of herself performing the Give Me Head Top Dance, using a sound of GloRilla performing the song at a concert, receiving roughly 2.8 million plays and 485,400 likes in a month (shown below, left).

Users on the app then started object labeling her video with captions, like TikToker[5] @gojosoneandonlyfiancee on May 9th, receiving over 2 million plays and 498,800 likes in a month (shown below, right).

On May 11th, 2024, multiple TikTokers[6][7][8] posted videos in which people and characters were rotoscoped into @sarahsibby's video, seemingly using the application Viggle AI. The most viral example posted on May 11th was shared by TikToker[6] @m8rse, showing singer Frank Ocean, gaining over 596,800 likes in a month (shown below, left).
