George Santos' Ziwe Interview refers to a viral video of former United States Congressman George Santos when he made an appearance on the YouTube series Ziwe Interview, a show in which guests answer questions in a more humorous tone, in mid-December 2023. The video inspired numerous edits and memes exploiting the various facial expressions made by Santos and Ziwe during the interview, which gained virality on Instagram, Twitter / X and TikTok in late 2023.

Origin

On December 18th, 2023, American comedian Ziwe[1] uploaded a video on her YouTube channel titled "George Santos Answers Hard-Hitting Questions" in which she interviewed the former New York Congressman George Santos who was recently indicted on 23 federal charges and was expelled from Congress earlier that month. The interview (shown below) garnered over 786,000 views and 45,000 likes in one day.

Immediately after the interview was posted on YouTube, several memes and clips were shared on the internet. For instance, on December 18th, 2023, ziwe[2] posted a clip of Santos' interview on X in which she asked him if he knew some Civil Rights icons (shown below). The post garnered more than 5.4 million views and 22,000 likes in a day.

Also on December 18th, X[3] user @MilkmanNick posted the Toy Story meme format I Don't Want to Play With You Anymore about the former Congressman. The post (shown below, left) amassed more than 7,900 likes and 384 retweets in a day. That same day, X[4] user @maryfrancesmcg uploaded an image of Nicole Kidman's AMC Commercial paired with the caption, "Tuning into the Ziwe/Santos interview," which amassed over 1,200 likes and 68 retweets in a similar timeframe.
