Geeked, alternatively used as Geeked Up or Geeking, is a slang term used to describe being stoned, high or under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The slang expression can be traced to rap music from the mid-2010s, with memes like We Geek Hard appearing in 2023. Jokes about being "geeked up" were popularized in the late 2010s and early 2020s, with the catchphrase "Bro Geeked Off the Yipper" gaining some traction in the early 2020s as well.

Origin

The term "geeked" has been used to describe being very happy and excited or being high on drugs or alcohol since at least the 1990s. Some early uses of the term "geeked" can be traced to rap music, as seen in the April 15th, 1997, song "To Ya Chest" by Artifacts (seen below).[1]

On November 29th, 2006, Urban Dictionary[2] user Slowboat posted a definition for the phrase "Geeked Up," describing it as the act of being high on amphetamines.

On September 20th, 2018, Bhad Bhabie posted the official music video to her song "Geek'd" in which she raps, "Don't get geeked up, might get beat up, Movin' how I wanna, with my feet up." The music video[3] gathered over 57 million views in five years (seen below).

On September 21st, 2023, the Instagram[4] page @bigyikes.jpeg posted a meme that read, "I'm coming over, you better not be geeked up." The post gathered over 260,000 likes in 10 months (seen below, left). On October 25th, 2023, the Instagram[5] page @shitposting.gif posted a RapTV headlines parody meme that read, "Puppy geeked DF up off them beans," gathering over 37,000 likes in nine months (seen below, right).

On November 10th, 2023, X[6] user @BrolmGay posted a meme with the caption, "when u realize u geeking a little too hard and gotta lock in," gathering over 26,000 likes in five months (seen below).

Geeked Off The Yipper

The catchphrase "geeked off the yipper" is sometimes used to describe the act of getting too high or "greening out" in reference to marijuana. A July 25th, 2022, post on iFunny[8] by user fucknick showed a cat with the caption, "Bro geeked off the yipper" (seen below, left). On October 4th, iFunny[7] user funny_doggo posted a selfie with the caption, "Bro geeked off the yipper" (seen below, right).
