Frankie Valli September 2024 Performances refers to a series of viral videos of 90-year-old singer Frankie Valli (real name Francesco Stephen Castelluccio) appearing to struggle while performing some of his classic songs. Videos of Valli performing in September 2024 sparked concern on social media, as well as jokes and sketches about the performances. Additionally, some clips of Valli performing were used as exploitable memes in green-screen edits.

Origin

In September 2024, clips of American singer Franke Valli's (best known as the frontman of the Four Seasons) recent concerts began spreading on social media due to what appeared to be Valli's flat affectation. One of the earliest was posted on September 23rd, 2024, by TikToker junkwaxhunter,[1] gaining over 613,000 likes in three weeks.

Spread

A September 28th, 2024, Frankie Valli concert in Maryland drew more scrutiny on social media. In particular, a moment in which Valli sings "Sherry Baby" drew memes on social media. For example, a captioned clip of the moment by TikTok user @saige_ds[2] posted on October 3rd gained over 12 million views on TikTok in two weeks.

On October 1st, 2024, TikTok user @caleb.finn[3] posted a sketch about the moment, gaining over 10.9 million views in a similar timeframe.

On October 5th, TikTok user @nunodaman[4] posted a sketch that gained over 6.5 million views in 10 days.

Prior to many of the memes, Frankie Valli defended himself in People Magazine,[5] assuring fans that he wasn't being "forced" to perform. In the article, Valli said:

"I am blessed to be 90 years old and still be doing what I love to do and as long as I am able, and audiences want to come see me, I am going to be out there performing as I always. I absolutely love what I do. And I know we put on a great show because our fans are still coming out in force and the show still rocks."
