Fototeta

About

Fototeta is an expression used to request sexually explicit photographs of someone's breasts. The internet slang term is a combination of the Spanish words "foto" and "teta," and it became popularized on TikTok in October 2022. Online, the word is often referenced with cute images of animals or cartoon character images and videos of them asking people to send pictures of their breasts.

Origin

On October 26th, 2022, TikTok^[1] user @makotts_ uploaded a screen recording of a WhatsApp conversation in Spanish showing a person repeatedly asking a girl to send a "fototeta" (A combination of Tits + Photo in Spanish), meaning pictures of her breasts. The video garnered 26 million plays and 2.3 million likes in seven months (seen below).

Spread

The term "fototeta" was quickly incorporated by the Spanish community on social media, using wholesome memes, usually of cats, in disguise to ask someone for breast pictures. For example, TikTok^[2] user @contedovazio posted a series of images of sad kitties with the caption "fototeta😔?" The post (seen below, left), uploaded on February 2nd, 2023, garnered 42,000 plays and 1,200 likes in two months. On March 12th, TikTok^[3] user @wobblecatz uploaded a cartoon of a cat lip-dubbing the original video that created the term. The post (seen below, right) received 2 million plays and 341,000 likes in a month.

On February 21st, 2023, Twitter^[4] user @ArtOfZue shared an animation of a mouse and a goat dubbing the "fototeta" TikTok audio. The video (seen below) garnered 361,000 views and 34,500 likes in two months.
