Fortnite Bus Driver Death refers to a series of memes and viral posts honoring the legacy of the imagined driver of the Battle Bus in the video game Fortnite, named Lars, because fans theorized that he died when it was announced that the Battle Bus was to be discontinued in Chapter 7 of the game, titled "Chapter Seven: Pacific Break." In the Chapter 7 trailer, which was released in late November 2025, the Battle Bus is seen exploding mid-air. Heading into December 2025, jokes about the death of the Battle Bus Driver surfaced en masse on TikTok, Twitter / X and YouTube, among other sites.

Origin

On November 27th, 2025, X[2] user @BackersGamesF, an account centered on leaks of Fortnite info, leaked information that the Battle Bus was to be discontinued in the upcoming Chapter 7, Season 1 of Fortnite. The tweet received over 1.7 million views and 31,000 likes in six days.



The leak was ultimately confirmed during the Fortnite Zero Hour Chapter Finale live event on November 29th, as reported on by gaming outlets like Polygon.[1] Instead of being dropped off by the Battle Bus mid-air to enter the game, players were going to ride up to the island on surfboards.

On November 29th, 2025, the official YouTube [3] channel of Fortnite uploaded a cinematic trailer for "Chapter Seven: Pacific Break," gaining over 1.1 million views in four days. At the end of the trailer, the Battle Bus explodes when it's destroyed mid-air.



Also on November 29th, the official X[8] account of @Fortnite shared an "in memorium" video for the Battle Bus Driver, gaining over 3.1 million views and 79,000 likes in four days.

On November 29th, 2025, several memes emerged about the Battle Bus driver dying as the topic spread online.

For instance, on that day, X[4] user @GavinK1ng tweeted a video edit meme that showed streamer Ninja driving the Battle Bus before being exploded. Over four days, the video gained roughly 15,000 likes.


On November 30th, YouTuber[5] @DAL3X posted a Short, showing the Battle Bus explosion followed by a 67 joke that they edited in. The video's text overlay caption read, "They slimed the bus driver and they make a 67 joke out of it," and the video ended with the Look How They Massacred My Boy image macro. Over three days, the video received roughly 2.8 million views and 64,000 likes.



Also on November 30th, 2025, TikToker[6] @ellietales shared an image of Lars the Battle Bus Driver in Meme Heaven, paired with text that honored his life. Over three days, the video garnered over 7,400 likes.

On December 1st, X[7] user @speedsterfn tweeted a photo of someone hanging up "missing" posters for Lars the Battle Bus Driver, captioned, "We have to find the bus driver 🙏." Over two days, the tweet received roughly 9,900 likes.
