About

Foid is a shortened form of the internet slang term femoid, a derogatory term coined by incel communities to refer to women. While "foid" is used interchangeably with "femoid," a term that can be traced back to Reddit and 4chan incel and lookism communities from 2017, it gained renewed attention online in 2024.

Origin

The term femoid arose out of incel communities on Reddit, 4chan and various online forums around 2017. The term is a portmanteau of the words "female" and "android," with the implication being that women are unintelligent and robotic beings preprogrammed to reproduce only with Chads.

An early example of the term "foid" used interchangeably with "femoid" is an April 10th, 2018, post on 4chan's /r9k/[1] board on which an anonymous user posted an image that read, "Around a foid, be paranoid."
