The Flat Subway Sandwich Trend, also known as the Flattened Subway Sandwich Trend, refers to a mid-2025 TikTok trend of people trying to completely flatten a foot-long sandwich from the fast-food chain Subway, based on a viral video shared by TikToker Des Osio (@des_osio22) in late July 2025 in which she showed a flattened Subway sandwich that she stated her husband accidentally fell on. It inspired humor and curiosity because many believed that the sandwich was comically and impossibly flat in the original video. The widely held reaction inspired a series of videos from other creators who tried to get their Subway sandwiches as flat as the original, oftentimes to no avail.

Origin

On July 25th, 2025, TikToker^[1] @des_osio22 posted a video with a caption reading, "My husband fell and his whole body landed on top of half of his sub – turned it into a FLAT sandwich." The video showed the TikToker holding the sandwich and laughing at how flat it was. Over 11 days, the video gained over 5.7 million likes (shown below).

On July 27th, 2025, TikToker^[2] @homegirl1107 stitched the original video, showing herself falling on her own Subway sandwich, seeing if she could get it to be as flat. Over nine days, the video gained over 4,900 likes (shown below).

On July 29th, TikToker^[3] @homegirl1107 posted another video called, "Day 2 of trying to flatten a Subway sandwich," in which she sat on her sandwich for longer and talked about the incredible flatness of the original sandwich. In a week, the video gained over 390,700 likes (shown below).

On July 30th, 2025, TikToker^[4] @eleanorrigby_16 posted a video of herself looking out of a train window and contemplating, "But how did the sandwich… fully flatten," gaining over 18,700 likes in six days (shown below).
