Five Nights at Freddy's Jumpscares or Recreating FNAF Jumpscares refers to a TikTok trend in which users try to recreate the iconic jumpscares from the Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) horror game franchise. The trend was popularized in May 2023 on TikTok, with people performing similar facial expressions like the animatronics in FNAF games, often from the POV of the player.
On November 25th, 2022, TikTok[1] user @kokzz_tiktok uploaded a video featuring "All FNAF jumpscares sound," which amassed over 849,000 plays and 44,000 likes in a year. This is the earliest known example following the trend, though it didn't spawn a widespread trend for several months.
About a year after @kokzz_tiktok's video was posted on TikTok, more than 16,000 users posted content using the video as a sound for the Five Nights at Freddy's Jumpscares trend. For example, on May 19th, 2023, TikTok[2] user @poop.criminal posted a video (shown below, left) recreating some of the memorable jumpscares from the horror game, which received roughly 1 million plays and 284,000 likes in seven months.
On November 26th, TikTok[3] user @just_a_khaled posted a video replicating the jumpscares from FNAF (shown below, right), amassing over 18 million plays and 3.5 million likes in two days.
