First Time Getting Dunked on Kinda Nervous refers to a viral TikTok video in which a girl stutters when saying, "first time getting dunked on, kinda nervous" into the camera after a person dunks a basketball in front of her. TikTok users noticed the unusual format and declaration in the video which lead to more views and various audio parodies on TikTok in August 2019.

On August 11th, 2019, TikTok user @woahhvickyyyyy uploaded the original video which gained over 809,100 likes, 6,700 comments and 79,200 shares in 15 days.

Spread

On August 17th, 2019, following the growing popularity of her other video @woahhvickyyyyy began uploading videos in which she adds the words "kinda nervous" at the end to play into her viral success (shown below). The videos gained over 55,700 likes and 46,900 likes respectively in ten days.

The audio from @woahhvickyyyyy's original video was then used in various TikTok videos in which users act out scenarios in which they are nervous to do something for the first time. On August 19th, TikTok user @jack..johnson uploaded a video using the audio which accumulated over 295,100 likes and 6,900 shares in a week (shown below, left). The next day, TikTok user @zinccx used the audio to illustrate buying alcohol for the first time (shown below, right). The video garnered over 538,600 likes and 12,000 shares in six days.
