Find the Trans Person refers to a series of emoji art memes that parody a viral X / Twitter post that offered the challenge of finding a transgender person among 40 people emojis. The trend involves users arranging emoji to make cultural references and achieved popularity in late January 2024.

Origin

On January 18th, 2024, X^[1] / Twitter user @bluefolf posted a set of 40 different emoji of people, challenging others to single out a transgender person among them. The post continued, "Can’t find them? That’s because they live among us, looking like normal people. Because they are normal people." The post (shown below) garnered over 3,900 reposts and 30,000 likes in one week.

Later on January 18th, X^[2] user @twinkSlayer16 posted the earliest found parody of the post, replacing one of the emoji with the Alien Emoji and recaptioning the post. The parody post garnered over 2,600 reposts and 31,000 likes in one week.

Spread

In the following days, more parody posts were shared by users on X / Twitter as they arranged emojis to make cultural references. For example, on January 19th, 2024, X^[3] user @porgiesbigday made a parody post that garnered over 1,400 reposts and 18,000 likes in one week (shown below, left). On January 20th, X^[4] user @Drakon_0808 made a post that garnered over 650 reposts and 6,400 likes in six days (shown below, right).

More memes based on the format went viral in the following days, with many examples making references to various video games. For example, on January 21st, 2024, X^[5] user @realboser posted emoji art of Plants vs. Zombies that received over 10,000 reposts and 132,000 likes in four days (shown below).
