About

The Fever Dream Bird, also known as the Afterlife Bird, is a nickname for a bird seen in the 1973 animated short film The Galaxy (Galaxia) by Sabin Bălașa, which was coined on TikTok in late 2025 from a series of viral video caption memes that likened the bird to a creature one might see in an intense fever dream. The bird is seen spreading its wings, which eventually take up the whole background, turning to look at the viewer and then flying upward as its figure obscures.

Reminiscent of the "Ever Dream This Man?" meme, Fever Dream Bird memes played on the eerie and mesmerizing nature of the animation and hailed it as a cryptid shared through collective hallucinations, similar to The Hatman. Some also gave meaning to encountering the bird in a dream.
