Female GIFTok, also known as Girl GIFTok or GIFTok Girls, refers to the female counterpart of GIFTok, which is a genre of TikTok video memes that loop GIFs with an added caption (similar to GIF captions) and audio, which is usually an underground rap song. GIFTok dates back to July 2024, but Girl GIFTok started in June 2025. The GIFs used in the trend were mostly of women, and the captions included jokes that catered to women.

Origin

On June 5th, 2025, TikToker^[1] @heartofdaria posted a GIFTok meme using a GIF of actress Zooey Deschanel and a caption reading, "When a bih telling me she cracked my fine shi but she doesn't know I have his soul and mind," gaining over 183,600 likes in five days (shown below).

Also on June 5th, TikToker^[2] @user920283028 posted a similar GIFTok meme with a female subject, using a GIF of Mean Girls character Regina George (Rachel McAdams) and a caption reading, "When a bih say she sucked the soul out my man but she don't know we sleep OTP & have a stuffed animal as our child," gaining over 74,500 likes in five days (shown below). It's unclear which creator shared their video first on the day.

In the following days, others added to the trend, such as TikToker^[3] @crispdubz, who posted a GIFTok video of actress Anne Hathaway on June 9th, 2025, with a caption reading, "When hes on his fifth 'Am I a good boy' but he's lowk cute so I let him have it." The video received over 285,500 likes in a day (shown below).

Also on June 9th, TikToker^[4] @gassyfarty shared a GIFTok meme from the perspective of a boy watching the girls join the trend. The caption read, "How confused and proud we are that female GIFTok lowkey fire," gaining over 220,600 likes in a day (shown below).
