The @fckjoshy Subway Cereal Prank refers to a social media stunt in which TikToker @fckjoshy pours a box of Fruity Pebble cereal and a gallon of milk in to a plastic container and dumps it out on the floor of a crowded New York City subway. Many took offense to prank, criticizing the TikToker for taking advantage of essential workers during the coronavirus outbreak.

On May 12th, 2020, @fckjoshy published the prank on his TikTok account. The post received more than 3 million views, 435,000 reactions and 4,400 comments in less than two days (shown below).

Comments to the post were mixed. Some took offense to the pranks (examples below).[1] @madalynparkerr wrote, "We are in a pandemic. Please grow up and now if you have covid the poor people in the subway are likely to get it to." While others joked with @fckjoshy. TikToker saltycucumber2 wrote, "Now this, this is so mean. Why didn’t they help you!???"




That day, Twitter user @saltyarab shared the video and wrote, "does he think this shit is funny…." The tweet received more than 4 million people, 115,000 likes and 14,000 retweets in less than two days (shown below).

Hours later, the verified account of the New York Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) responded to the tweet. They wrote, "A new low: Pulling a prank on essential workers in the middle of a global pandemic. And making essential workers clean up your mess. Despicable." The tweet received more than 36,000 likes and 6,400 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).

On May 14th, Redditor [6] RealRecord8 shared the video in the /r/NYC subreddit. The post received more than 550 points (96% upvoted) and 160 comments in less than 24 hours.
