Fartbuckle the Goblin is a goblin character who appeared in a series of skits about Dungeons & Dragons by TikToker @Tumbleweed2319. In the skits, Fartbuckle is suddenly introduced by the dungeon master at a critical moment to sacrifice himself, whispering "I… save… friends…" as he gives his life to save the party. The character achieved virality within the Dungeons & Dragons community on TikTok in late July 2024.

Origin

On July 20th, 2024, TikTok^[1] user @tumbleweed2319 posted a comedy skit about a Dungeon & Dragons party about to be wiped by a magic crystal only to be saved when the dungeon master suddenly brings in his goblin companion Fartbuckle, who sacrifices himself to save the party. The video (shown below) received over 5.2 million views and 697,000 likes in six days.

In the following days, TikToker @tumbleweed2319 posted three more videos about the character, including two animations^[2][3] that received over 1.3 million views in four days and 374,500 views in one day (shown below, left and right).

The videos were followed by the viral popularity of the character within the Dungeons & Dragons community on TikTok, with users posting reaction videos, fan animations and other content.

For example, on July 25th, 2024, TikTok^[4] user @wizardinatshirt posted a reaction video that garnered over 143,000 views and 27,800 likes in one day (shown below, left).
