Fake I.D. is a dance song by Nigerian singer-songwriter, Faridah Seriki, and English DJ and producer, Henry Smithson, better known as Riton & Kah-Lo.
Origin
On January 5th, 2018, Trax Magazine premiered the song on SoundCloud[1]. The song has received over 1.3 million plays and 36,800 likes in a year. On March 6th, 2018, the official music video was uploaded to YouTube (shown below). The video gained over 820,000 views and 27,000 likes in a year.

On June 5th, 2018, YouTuber Mostelegantprincess posted a video Selena Gomez singing to “Fake I.D.” on Instagram Stories (shown below). The video garnered 92,000 views and 1,900 likes in nine months.
TikTok Parodies
In Early January 2019, a sound clip of "Fake I. D." was uploaded to TikTok and used in over 1.5 million songs in two months. On January 12th, 2019 the earliest know parody was uploaded by @skylerbaylie. Her video features comic book pop makeup look and gained 1.9 million likes and 98,300 shares.
On January 23rd, @skylarbaylie's video was featured in a compilation on YouTube (shown below). The video accumulated over 906,000 views and 17,000 likes in two months. The compilation video is a good example of early parodies that uses the sound clip of "Fake I.D."
@skylarbaylie's video was used in numerous TikTok Duets in which other users tried out the makeup look (shown below).
On February 15, 2019 one of the early dance parodies was uploaded by @imalexojeda (shown below). The video gained 245,400 likes and 2,644 shares in a month.
Many TikTok users used the sound clip to perform the same dance in which participants rock their hips back and forth and alternate from their hands pointing towards their head and folded together in front of their hips (show below).
On February 22nd, TikTok users @skyandtami uploaded an early video using the hand dance trend (shown below). The clip accumulated 156,000 likes and 5,430 reshares in a couple weeks.
