About

Everybody's So Creative! refers to a catchphrase from TikToker @tanaradoublechocolate (also known as Tanara) who went viral for her greenscreen duets with perceivably bad food recipe videos in 2022 and 2023. The cooking videos showed food that was perceivably strange or unhealthy. TikToker @tanaradoublechocolate would narrate the video and then satirically label the food as "creative." Her catchphrase became a notable TikTok meme in 2023 as users became familiar with her video style and anticipated something disgusting anytime they heard her voice on their "For You" page.

Origin

On July 14th, 2022, TikToker^[1] @tanaradoublechocolate posted her first video in which she duetted a recipe video on the app in order to humorously criticize the chef. The duet received roughly 215,700 plays and 22,100 likes in seven months (shown below, left). She continued her habit of posting bad recipe duets throughout the rest of 2022; however, she wouldn't coin her catchphrase "Everybody's so creative" until a TikTok^[2] she uploaded on July 31st, 2022. The video received roughly 3.3 million plays and 334,900 likes in seven months (shown below, right).

After the success of her "Everybody's so creative" duet on July 31st, TikToker @tanaradoublechocolate continued with the video style going into the remainder of 2022, earning more engagement as time went on. For instance, on August 8th, 2022, TikToker^[3] @tanaradoublechocolate posted a bad recipe duet that received roughly 7.9 million plays and 1.2 million likes in six months (shown below, left). On August 13th, 2022, she posted a TikTok^[4] that received roughly 17 million plays and 1.5 million likes in six months (shown below, right).

Going into early 2023, TikTok content surfaced about the catchphrase, mostly joking about the phrase's use for identifying bad cooking. For instance, on February 5th, 2023, TikToker^[5] @abstract.shape_ posted a video with text overlay reading, "When I hear 'Everybody so creative!' And I know I'm about to see the most disgusting sin against the culinary arts ever created." The video received roughly 634,100 plays and 96,500 likes in 11 days (shown below, left). On February 14th, 2023, TikToker^[6] @shellooooooooooo posted a video with similar text reading, "Your food recipe post gets duetted by a big creator and the first thing she says is 'Everyone's so creative….'" The video received roughly 1.3 million plays and 147,700 likes in two days (shown below, right).
