Every Show Has One refers to a Blorbo chart and exploitable meme format in which characters from various fandoms are distributed on a three-by-three grid with each cell describing how their role in the show is perceived, such as "the fan favorite," "made to be hated" and "just straight up evil." The format achieved virality in Reddit communities in early July 2024 before spreading to additional platforms.

Origin

On June 16th and 17th, 2024, Redditor nor-ulquiorr4_ posted a three-by-three chart template titled "Every show has one" in the /r/hazbin^[1] and /r/KimetsuNoYaiba^[2] subreddits. The chart (shown below, left) offered to distribute characters from the show based on their perceived trope, offering options such as "the fan favorite," "the only normal person" and "the gremlin." The posts gained over 30 and 50 upvotes, respectively, in the subreddits in one month.

In the following days, Redditor non-ulquiorr4_ continued to fill the Hazbin Hotel chart based on suggestions from the subreddit, posting^[3] the latest, mostly complete version of the chart on June 22nd, 2024 (shown below, right).

Spread

In late June 2024, the template achieved initial spread on Reddit. For example, on June 30th, 2024, Redditor Gamora2728 posted the template in the /r/brooklynninenine^[4] subreddit, posting the completed Brooklyn Nine-Nine version^[5] on July 9th (shown below, left). On July 2nd, Redditor ayanda281 posted the template in the /r/bridgerton^[6] subreddit, posting the completed Bridgeton version^[7] on July 5th (shown below, right).

In these and many other examples, the complete chart was built based on suggestions from the community, with users gradually adding characters to it one by one.

Following its popularization on Reddit, the format saw further spread to X / Twitter, Facebook and other platforms. For example, on July 5th, 2024, X^[8] user @ChibiSepphy posted a Final Fantasy VII version that gained over 40 reposts and 350 likes in two weeks (shown below).
