Wobby Killing His Neighbor With a Missile Rumor refers to the arrest of Boyton Beach, Florida man Andrew Pepin, purportedly known as the furry Wobby or @w0bby on Twitter / X, who allegedly killed his neighbor by shooting a "missile" at their home and blowing them up. The story broke in August 2024 and led to memes and posts on X, mostly in the form of quote tweets and memes that portrayed shock and joked about killing one's neighbor with a missile while possessing an internet fursona at the same time. It's ultimately unconfirmed if Wobby is Pepin. Additionally, Pepin was arrested for murdering his roommate with a rifle and shooting into a dwelling, not for blowing up his neighbor's house.

Background

On April 9th, 2024, Boynton Beach, Florida police arrested a man named Andrew Pepin, charging him with the murder of his roommate Jonathan Richardson. According to court documents, Pepin allegedly fired a rifle at Richardson three times, striking and killing him. Pepin was also charged with shooting into an occupied dwelling.^[1]

Pepin's mugshot was posted by the Instagram^[2] @palmbeach__mugshots on April 9th (shown below) with his charges listed in the description, reading, in court terms, "HOMICIDE – MURDER FIRST DEGREE PREMEDITATED" and "WEAPON OFFENSE – MISSILE INTO DWELLING."

On August 6th, 2024, X^[3] user @StenoVibe replied to a September 2023 video posted by X^[4] user Wobby (@w0bbby) with a screenshot of Andrew Pepin's arrest report, captioning it, "Yummers," receiving over 280 likes in three days (shown below). @StenoVibe alleged that Pepin was X user Wobby.

It's ultimately unconfirmed if Wobby and Pepin are the same person. In the X^[4] video that @StenoVibe replied to, Wobby is seen getting into an Alibaba fursuit. His face and haircut are similar to Pepin's mugshot (shown below).

Also, according to the Palm Beach Post,^[1] Pepin is 26 and according to Wobby's X^[5] bio, he's 26. However, CBS-12^[5] listed Pepin as 29 years old.

Online Reactions

The rumor spread on Twitter / X in the following days. For instance, on August 6th, 2024, X^[6] user @kidrangeree quoted a different Wobby tweet showing a GIF of his fursona, captioning it, "y'all are never gonna guess what this guy did," receiving over 220 likes in three days (shown below, left).

On August 7th, X^[7] user @Ain_Macdougal also quoted the tweet and attached the arrest report screenshot, writing, "Same person btw." In two days, the quote received over 31,000 likes (shown below, right).

On August 8th, 2024, X^[8] user @solaireyaoi_ tweeted a Jesse Pointing a Gun meme that was recaptioned to read, "me when I have to kill my neighbor with a missile because I'm bored," receiving over 31,000 likes in a day (shown below).

Other X^[9] users posted viral memes that likened Pepin's crime to something from the video game series Grand Theft Auto as the story continued spreading in August 2024.
