Overview
The Completionist Charity Scam Allegations refers to a controversy that emerged in mid-November 2023 when a series of videos were released accusing the Open Hands Charity run by Jirard "The Completionist" Khalil of allegedly keeping all of the money donated to it for over a decade without dispersing any towards charities. The videos, released by YouTubers Mutahar (SomeOrdinaryGamers) and Karl Jobst, led to the online gaming community to call for the charity and Jirard to face accountability.
Background
On November 13th, 2023, both Mutahar and Karl Jobst[1] uploaded videos to their respective YouTube channels in which they went over their concerns with the charity, called Open Hands, run by Jirard Khalil and his channel The Completionist. Karl Jobst, who started the initial investigation, went into detail on the background of the allegations and his initial thoughts in his video, which gained over 165,000 views in two hours (shown below).
Mutahar, known online as SomeOrdinaryGamer,[2] uploaded his video at the same time, with him going more in-depth into the tax filings and official paperwork surrounding the charity, its financial information and structure, earning over 133,000 views in two hours (shown below).
Online Reactions
Online reactions to the videos quickly started to spread across social media, with initial reactions being largely negative against Jirard and his brand The Completionist as word of the controversy grew. For example, on November 13th, 2023, X user @JAphilly2012[3] uploaded a variation of the I'm Doing My Part meme featuring different charity foundations, with the Open Hand foundation being the last segment during which Tim Robinson proclaims that he didn't do anything (shown below), receiving nearly 100 likes in three hours.

Some social media users began to make jokes about the large amount of money that was donated to the charity over the years and what could have been done with it.
For example, on November 13th, X user @KittenFox_55[4] uploaded a screenshot from The Completionist channel in which the point of the video was to buy every game available in the Nintendo eShop before it was shut down, explicitly suggesting that charity money was spent on buying Nintendo online games (shown below). The post garnered over 650 likes and 150 retweets in one hour.
