Overview

Sunny Delight's "I Can't Do This Anymore" Tweet refers to a tweet by the orange juice brand "Sunny Delight" which sparked concern that the person running the Sunny Delight Twitter account was mentally unwell and perhaps suicidal. While many brands interacted with the post offering support, a significant amount of Twitter users hated the ensuing drama.

Background

On February 3rd, 2019, the Twitter account for Sunny Delight[1] tweeted "I can't do this anymore," gaining over 72,000 retweets and 166,000 likes (shown below).

Developments

Some Twitter users offered support to the account in replies. Twitter user @dragonloli replied to sunny delight saying their DMs were open if the brand needed to talk (shown below, left). User @connr_wild tweeted the account asking "what's wrong."


Other popular brands interacted with the tweet, such as Moon Pie (shown below, left) and Insomnia Cookies (shown below, right).


Many Twitter users were upset at the interaction. Twitter user @bananalise tweeted "this is hell" with Little Debbie's Twitter response to Sunny Delight's tweet (shown below, left). Twitter user @fraxionmusic argued that using depression as an apparent marketing tactic was cynical and disrespectful to people who struggle with depression (shown below, right).
