Roblox Concerts

About

Roblox Concerts refers to virtual concerts, festivals and performances (official and fan-made) attended in-game through the video game Roblox. Some of the most prominent concerts include the Roblox Playboi Carti concert and a version of the Rolling Loud festival. Roblox players have also been creating concert experiences in the game since as early as 2011. The first official Roblox concert, featuring Lil Nas X, took place in late 2020, with the renown of such Roblox concerts increasing throughout 2021.

History

It is unknown who created the first fan-made concert experience in Roblox, but starting in 2011, Roblox player^[3] ELESCORPION300 created a number of concert experiences, including "Rock Concert," a virtual recreation of a rock show, offering some of the earliest virtual concert experiences within the game (shown below).

Lil Nas X Concert Experience

On November 10th, 2020, the first official Roblox concert experience took place, featuring a performance from Lil Nas X.^[1] The concert was uploaded in its entirety to Nas X's YouTube channel on December 14th, gaining over 7.6 million views in just over a year (shown below).

Roblox Playboi Carti Concert / King Vamp Tour

Roblox concert footage became increasingly popularized on TikTok throughout 2021. For example, on November 15th, 2021, TikToker^[4] @kiddpunx announced the "King Vamp Tour," a recreation of the Playboi Carti concert experience featuring songs by the artist. The TikToker posted two videos of footage from the concert over the next few days, boasting a significant number of players moshing to the show in-game (shown below, left and right).

On November 16th, 2021, YouTuber Vosa posted footage from their attendance of the concert, gaining over 14,900 views in two months (shown below).

On January 9th, 2022, YouTuber Profine posted an original animation imagining a Playboi Carti concert in Roblox, gaining over 23,600 views in two weeks (shown below).

Rolling Loud Festival

In January 2022, TikToker @kiddpunx, the creator of the King Vamp tour experience, held an unofficial version of the Rolling Loud festival in the game featuring "performances" from Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, Sheck Wes, Ken Carson and Yeat. On January 3rd, 2022, the TikToker announced day two of the festival (shown below, left). On January 4th, the TikToker then posted a video of the crowd moshing as "Off The Grid" by Kanye West and Carti plays, gaining over 500,000 views in three weeks (shown below, right). On the same day, the official Rolling Loud Instagram^[2] page shared the video of players moshing to "Off the Grid," gaining over 138,000 views in the same span of time.
