Overview
MrBeast Old Videos Controversy refers to a controversy surrounding two clips of YouTuber and content creator MrBeast from 2017 that resurfaced online in July 2024, one in which he made an inappropriate comment about internet personality Bhad Bhabie (aka Danielle Bregoli or the Cash Me Ousside Girl) and the other in which he used the F-slur and made several edgy jokes. The controversy went viral as a part of an online backlash toward MrBeast that followed grooming allegations surrounding his crew member Ava Kris Tyson earlier in July 2024.
Background
In mid-July 2024, several YouTube videos proposed grooming allegations against YouTuber Ava Kris Tyson, a member of MrBeast's team.[1] As the allegations surrounding Tyson garnered more attention, MrBeast started to experience backlash and criticism, as many presumed he must have known about Tyson's alleged activities beforehand and refused to take action against them.
On July 24th, 2024, X[2] user @RosannaPansio posted a compilation clip from one of MrBeast's 2017 counting streams, which has since been delisted from his YouTube channel.[3] In the clip, MrBeast says the F-slur several times, jokes about buying an N-word pass and replies to a chat comment about buying Black people for "$69 each." The video (shown below) received over 13.2 million views, 4,300 reposts and 57,000 likes in one day.

Selling 10 [pause] for 69 dollars each? That's a steep price, I don't think you're making any sales. I'm kidding!
Later on July 24th, X[4] user @6sznx posted a short clip from episode 26 of the Hot Wet Soup podcast, hosted by content creators Elvis the Alien, Leon Lush and Bionic Pig TV. In the clip, the hosts and the guests discuss the then-recently viral Cash Me Ousside girl, now better known as rapper and internet personality Bhad Bhabie, who at that time was 14 years old.
In the clip, MrBeast asks, "Let's be real, you wouldn't put your dick in her?" As the hosts respond they would not, MrBeast continues, "I was hoping you'd say yes. Yeah, I wouldn't either. She's way too young" (shown below). A same-day repost of the clip by X[5] account @DramaAlert received over 6.1 million views, 2,200 reposts and 27,000 likes in one day.

Developments
On July 24th, 2024, X[6] user @DhruvRaj997 posted another clip from the same podcast episode in which MrBeast says, "Let's say something offensive that people can take out of context," claiming that MrBeast's comment about Bhad Bhabie was him following up on that idea (shown below). However, MrBeast says this later in the podcast about an unrelated topic, not before the Bhad Bhabie statement.
seems like it was part of a joke where he was trying to get people to take him out of context? pic.twitter.com/mzG0AkKBVa

Later on July 24th, YouTuber Leon Lush, one of the hosts of the Hot Wet Soup podcast who was in the episode, posted a video on X[7] defending MrBeast and providing insight into the situation (shown below).

Online Reactions
The spread of the clips on social media contributed to pushback against MrBeast, which followed the Ava Kris Tyson controversy, with some users considering the idea of MrBeast getting canceled and others commenting that the comments he made over seven years ago should be disregarded.
For example, on July 24th, 2024, X[8] user @aidannotaydan made a meme about the situation in which MrBeast would be canceled that received over 2,200 reposts and 39,000 likes in one day (shown below, left). On July 25th, X[9] user @ShitpostRock quoted one of the controversial clips, commenting that "in 2014-2017, 90% of youtubers did this." The post (shown below, right) received over 1,100 reposts and 43,000 likes in one day.
