Overview

MrBeast Crypto Scam Allegations, also known as MrBeast's Crypto Wallet Controversy, refers to a blockchain investigation into YouTube star MrBeast's (Jimmy Donaldson) cryptocurrency activities. The investigation allegedly revealed over 50 wallets that generated more than $23 million in trading profits between 2021 and 2024. Loock.io, a blockchain analyst and advisory firm, revealed the report in late October 2024 and accused the YouTuber of insider trading, market manipulation and misleading investors, which sparked debate and considerable attention online that followed shortly after the influencer was involved in a feud with YouTuber Rosanna Pancino over purported inappropriate texts in MrBeast's Telegram channel with his team.

Background

On October 29th, 2024, the blockchain analyst and advisory firm Loock.io[1] released an extensive map of Mr Beast’s alleged crypto wallets in a report titled "MrBeast Investigation," which claims over 50 cryptocurrency wallets that netted approximately $23 million in questionable profits were linked to the YouTuber.

On October 30th, 2024, the X[2] page @Cointelegraph uploaded one of the earliest viral mentions of the report (seen below), which amassed more than 16 million views and 20,000 likes in two days.

The report's main allegations against MrBeast are insider trading, in which researchers allege he participated in presale investments and dumping tokens at inflated prices, market manipulation, claiming he promoted specific crypto tokens and raised prices before selling his holdings, leaving followers with financial losses, and misleading investors by promoting cryptocurrencies without disclosing presale investments that raised transparency concerns.[3]

Developments

As of November 1st, 2024, it is unknown if MrBeast is being formally investigated by any law enforcement agency[4] over the accusations, as the crypto wallet report has been uncovered by private advisory firms.

The crypto scam allegations against the YouTuber sparked significant news coverage, memes and jokes on social media from various users as it garnered attention.
