Overview

Kendall Jenner's 25th Birthday Halloween Party refers to the public backlash against a private gathering of more than 100 guests, including numerous public celebrities, for reality television star Kendall Jenner's birthday party. Many online took offense to the party as it took place amid the coronavirus without apparent safety precautions such as social distancing and mask-wearing.

On October 31st, 2020, Kendall Jenner threw a 25th birthday party at a rooftop bar in Hollywood, California. According to TMZ,[1] the guests included:

Justin and Hailey Bieber, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Kylie Jenner, Travis Scott, Scott Disick, Jaden Smith, Paris Hilton, The Weeknd, Justine Skye, Quavo, Doja Cat, Winnie Harlow and Saweetie.

Online Reaction

Despite requests by the party host to refrain from posting images and video on social media, both found their way online that night. Some celebrities, like The Weeknd, who attended the event posted videos and images from the party on Instagram (shown below).

Kendall's sister Kylie also posted photos on her Instagram Story. The photos show her standing close with other celebrities and not taking any of the precautions to slow or stop the spread of the coronavirus (shown below).

Many criticized the wealthy celebrities partying during the pandemic. On November 1st, Twitter [2] user @jeonlvr tweeted, "no but kendall jenner really threw a big ass party with all those celebrities without masks in the middle of a pandemic with a 'no social media' rule so people wouldn’t find out about it…." The tweet received more than 6,500 likes and 2,000 retweets in less than two days (shown below, left). Twitter[3] user @repatod tweeted, "not Kendall Jenner hosting a Halloween party in the middle of the pandemic and making a "no social media" rule so people wouldn't know." The tweet received more than 5,900 likes and 1,300 retweets in less than two days (shown below, center).

Twitter[4] user @katiiestyles tweeted, "not all these celebs posting about wearing a mask, social distancing then showing up to kendall jenners party. eat the rich." The tweet received more than 1,500 likes and 300 retweets in less than two days (shown below, right).
