Overview

Jack Doherty McLaren Crash or Jack Doherty's Car Crash refers to a high-profile car accident involving American Kick streamer, YouTuber and social media influencer Jack Doherty in early October 2024. While there were no casualties after Doherty crashed his supercar (a McLaren 570S valued at around $200,000), the influencer livestreamed the incident, causing an array of criticism and backlash against Doherty for seemingly worrying more about the damaged vehicle than his injured friend, allegedly texting and driving or reading chat messages from his stream, speeding in the rain, using the accident for content, etc. A few hours after the accident, Doherty was permanently banned from Kick for endangering a life while driving on stream.

Background

On October 5th, 2024, Kick streamer Jack Doherty crashed his 2024 McLaren 570S on a rainy highway in Florida while livestreaming on his Kick channel. Though the stream has since been deleted, X[1] user @copiumx posted the earliest footage from Doherty's stream (seen below), showing the moment he lost control of the car as it appeared to hydroplane while he was using his phone, smashing into a roadside railing or guardrail. The video amassed over 71,000 views and 275 likes in a day.

Various tabloids[2] and media outlets reporting on the story claim the streamer and the cameraman in the car were sent to the hospital, with the man behind the camera getting some stitches for a head injury, which can be seen in the video.
