ll Verizon 4:29 PM Avocadhoe O @itsallzara Hi. I am just sending this to ask if the ice cream van was selling vegan ice cream, which would be surprising. Wanting to help others is of course great, but we should of course be helping them without basically harming and killing non-human babies, which buying non-vegan ice cream basically does. That means that if the ice cream was the typical kind, whichl generally assume is the case it definitely would have been best to help the girl in some other way. Avocadhoe @itsallzara Pulled up to my driveway to find a little girl crying, she didn't have money for the ice cream van like her friends did so I gave her enough money to get herself a nice big ice cream with sauce, sprinkles and a flake. She was so happy (and soon had ice cream round her mouth)

Overview

ItsAllZara Vegan Ice Cream Controversy refers to an online backlash directed toward Twitter user Anthony Dagher for harassing vegan blogger ItsAllZara for giving money to a child to buy ice cream in late April 2018.

Background

On April 28th, 2018, ItsAllZara tweeted that she gave a little girl money to buy herself ice cream after discovering the child crying in her driveway (shown below).^[1]

In response, Twitter user Anthony Dagher sent ItsAllZara direct messages criticizing her for purchasing the ice cream, assuming she contributed to the purchase of an animal product. He then posted screenshots of the exchange along with a picture of ItsAllZara's Instagram account (shown below).

On April 29th, Redditor AweHeck submitted screenshots of tweets about the controversy to /r/facepalm in a post titled "Buying Non-Vegan ice cream is wrong." Within 72 hours, the post gained over 17,300 points (88% upvoted) and 1,100 comments.

On May 1st, Ebaum's World^[3] published a gallery about the controversy titled "Vegan Activist Gets Rekt On Twitter After Being A Mega Douche." The following day, the Ready To Glare YouTube channel uploaded a video on the controversy titled "Twitter Outrage ep. 2 : Vegan Ice Cream" (shown below).
