Overview

FNAF x Dead By Daylight Collaboration or Fortnite x Five Nights at Freddy's Collab Rumors refers to an August 5th, 2024, collaboration announcement between the video game series Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) and the multiplayer survival horror game Dead by Daylight. Leading up to the announcement, many believed the collaboration would be between FNAF and Fortnite. Alleged leaks suggesting FNAF skins would come to Fortnite surfaced in July 2024 and were spread by X / Twitter user @ShiinaBR, claiming there would be an announcement on August 5th, 2024. That day, FNAF creator Scott Cawthon posted, "Keep an eye on…. someone’s account today," seemingly suggesting there would be a collaboration of some sort announced. Later on August 5th, it was then announced that the collab would be between FNAF and Dead By Daylight and that it would be released in the summer of 2025.

On July 31st, 2024, X^[1] user @ShiinaBR posted about a purported leaked collaboration between FNAF and an unspecified series, sharing what appears to be a screenshot of a Fortnite x FNAF collab in the post, writing, "The announcement takes place on August 5, the Fortnite update drops on August 6 at 4am ET," garnering over 11,000 likes in five days (shown below, left).

On August 3rd, they posted about it to X^[2] again along with another FNAF x Fortnite image, garnering over 18,000 likes in two days (shown below, right).

Developments

On August 5th, 2024, Scott Cawthon, creator of FNAF, posted on X,^[3] "Keep an eye on…. someone’s account today. Hmm," garnering over 57,000 likes in under a day (shown below). Many believed this to be evidence of a Fortnite collab announcement or another unknown collaboration with the franchise.

Later on August 5th, 2024, an announcement between FNAF and Dead by Daylight was shared online.^[4] According to the announcement, the release of the collab is scheduled for the summer of 2025.

The rumored announcement inspired numerous memes in the days and hours leading up to the reveal, including parodies of the announcement (examples shown below). Other rumors about possible collabs also spread online, including a collab between FNAF and the clothing brand Cloak and a collab between FNAF and Fall Guys.

Memes and reactions continued after the announcement. On August 5th, 2024, X^[5] user @ChloeImagine posted a piece of fan art depicting Freddy Fazbear with a killer from Dead by Daylight, garnering over 31,000 likes in a day (shown below, left). On the same day, X^[6] user @_Ochacon24 posted a more critical meme about the collab, garnering over 56,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).
