On December 13th, 2025, CBS[1] aired its first episode in a "town hall" interview series, featuring CBS News Editor-In-Chief Bari Weiss as the moderator. The first episode was with Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in September 2025.

The episode was uploaded to YouTube[2] by CBS News on December 13th, gaining over 86,700 views in two days.

Before the full episode aired, CBS News uploaded clips on Instagram and TikTok, starting on December 11th, 2025.[3]

On December 11th, 2025, CBS News shared a clip from Erika Kirk's Town Hall on Instagram,[4] in which she was asked by Bari Weiss about the difference between forgiving someone based on faith and based on justice. Kirk answered, "Oh, of course, but we serve a just God, and I rest easy in knowing that. He is sovereign, but He's just. And so let the Lord handle that." Over four days, it gained over 42,400 likes.




Also on December 11th, X[5] user @DissidentMedia reposted the clip, writing, "Something is wrong. At a minimum, this isn’t the time for a press circuit. Those around her who claim to want peace for her, and note that substantive questions about her husband’s murder are making things worse, should help extract her from this situation." Over four days, the post gained over 3.6 million views and 3,600 likes.

@DissidentMedia's post largely spread through quote-tweets and use of the tweet's video, like one shared by X[6] user @DoctorFishbones on December 12th, 2025, who wrote in their caption, "Everything about this woman strikes me as demonic," gaining over 18.2 million views and 59,000 likes in three days.


On December 13th, 2025, X[7] user @Vanessa_ABee reposted the video clip, writing, "I think they were going for compelling grieving widow, unfortunately her aura is very off-putting." Over two days, the tweet received over 13,000 likes.


Candace Owens Comments

On December 11th, 2025, CBS News shared a clip from Erika Kirk's Town Hall on Instagram,[3] in which Bari Weiss asked Kirk about the conspiracy theories being spread by podcaster Candace Owens about the death of Charlie Kirk. Kirk said she had one word for Owens, which was, "Stop." Over four days, the video received over 91,000 likes.

On December 13th, 2025, Instagram[10] user @lisandravcomedy shared a video skit in which she played Erika Kirk, with the description reading, "Actual footage of Erika Kirk in the dressing room before her CBS Town Hall interview." Over two days, the video received over 140,100 likes.




Also on December 13th, Redditor Powerful_Concern8671 shared a post to the /r/conspiracy[11] subreddit, writing, "What are your thoughts on the CBS Erika Kirk interview?" The post included a slideshow of frames from the interview of Erika Kirk's facial expressions. Over two days, it gained over 1,500 upvotes and nearly 1,000 comments.



On December 14th, 2025, X[8] user @PizzaPepe tweeted a clip from Erika Kirk's Town Hall, captioning it, "This isn't real life. This is theater, this is acting." Over one day, the tweet gained over 13,000 likes.


Later on December 14th, X[9] user @persianmama111 tweeted, "Stop showing me Erika Kirk's scary husky eyes!!" In a day, it received over 30,000 likes.



Also on December 14th, 2025, X[12] user @RonFilipkowski tweeted a screenshot of a CBS News tweet, writing, "If you thought CBS was done with Erika Kirk content after 25 social media posts over 3 days plus a televised Town Hall last night, you would be wrong because they are still going with 4 more today," gaining over 3,200 likes in a day.
