Relationship Between Donald Trump and Laura Loomer

Laura Loomer, a far-right activist, conspiracy theorist and internet personality, and former president Donald Trump were first photographed together as early as November 5th, 2023, when Loomer posted a photo of the two to her X^[1] account, writing, "Election Day 2024 is exactly 1 year from today. If you are serious about helping Donald Trump, then it’s time to get your ass into gear." The post gained over 7,700 likes in 10 months.

On September 10th, 2024, the night of the presidential debate between Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, Loomer was seen exiting Trump's jet alongside him. Photos of the two exiting the jet and standing next to one another went viral on X^[2]^[3] on the 10th and 11th. Many of the posts criticized Trump for associating with Loomer due to her conspiratorial nature and far-right political leanings.

Affair Rumors

On September 12th, 2024, X^[4] user @pesach_lattin posted a screenshot taken from a video of Trump and Loomer having their photos taken in which Trump is seen with his hand on Loomer's waist, garnering over 33,000 likes in a day.

The post's text claims that the two are having an affair and calls Loomer a "downgrade" from Donald Trump's wife Melania. Although the post claims that it's confirmed the two have been "spending nights" together, there is no evidence to suggest this is true. The post reads:

"It's been confirmed that Laura Loomer has been spending nights at Mar-A-Largo with Donald Trump. At the same time @MELANIATRUMP has been stuck in NYC, refusing to go back to Florida which she called "a swamp." He isn't even hiding it anymore, wrapping his arm around Laura and caressing her lower back. Quite a downgrade."

The relationship between Donald Trump and Laura Loomer, regardless of the veracity of the affair rumors, proved controversial, with several news media outlets, including The Hill,^[5] reporting on it in September 2024.

The post by X user @pesach_lattin claiming they were confirmed to be in an affair garnered viral spread online, including via a repost on the subreddit /r/WhitePeopleTwitter^[6] on September 12th, 2024, that garnered over 36,000 upvotes in a day.

On the same day, X^[7] user @jdtlgr shared the rumor along with the full video of the two taking photos together, a previous video of the two together and a post by Loomer making racist remarks against Harris, writing, "Rumours Donald Trump & Laura Loomer having an affair seem very likely to be true. Loomer is a Trump loving lunatic who recently made an extremely offensive comment regarding Kamala Harris. While Trump is known to have cheated many times on all his wives. What a grim thought!" garnering over 1,200 likes in a day.

Also on September 12th, 2024, CNN^[8] published an article in which Loomer is quoted as saying she was on the plane with Trump the night after his assassination attempt. The quote reads:

“He wanted me on the plane with him the day after he almost got assassinated. I was with him. I flew with him to the (Republican National Convention), so it could show that I’m a trustworthy person, I have his back,”

On the same day, the MSNBC YouTube^[9] channel published a video about Loomer and Trump's relationship, although not about the affair rumors, garnering over 130,000 views in under 24 hours.

Online Reactions

The rumored affair inspired reactions across social media, including memes. For example, on September 12th, 2024, X^[10] user @ASFleischman posted a photoshopped image of Loomer altered to make her look physically worse than she does, writing, "even if I was pushing 80 and my wife hated me I just don't know," garnering over 9,600 likes in a day.

On September 13th, X^[11] user and artist @GaryPetersonUSA posted a photograph of himself next to a portrait of Trump and Loomer standing together, writing, "It’s been a long night painting Laura Loomer into my award winning President Trump artwork, but it’s worth it knowing she’ll be a powerful new First Lady," garnering over 14,000 likes in under a day.
