On September 22nd, 2023, Don Pollo’s wife shared a video on his TikTok^[1] account @donpollo2982 claiming the creator had been arrested. The video (shown below) garnered over 724,000 plays and 85,000 likes in a month.

She did not share all of the reasons why he was arrested, but the tabloid Celeb Critics^[2] stated he "may have been involved in an illegal incident" that caused him to be arrested.

Developments

Two days after his wife posted the video about his arrest, Don Pollo replied to a comment saying "Vamo Don Pollo Por Fin Libre" with a video of him and his wife drinking to celebrate his freedom. The post,^[3] uploaded on September 24th, 2023, received more than 529,000 plays and 78,000 likes in a month (seen below).

Online Reactions

Fans of the King of Ohio started to post videos in late September 2023 using the hashtag "#freedonpollo" on TikTok in hopes that their favorite creator might soon be out of jail. For example, on September 23rd, 2023, TikToker^[4] @kingohio_donpollo posted an ironic meme featuring Don Pollo with the overlay text saying he was arrested "because he didn't pay dem bills." The post (shown below, left) amassed roughly 26,000 plays and 545 likes in a month.

On September 24th, TikToker^[5] @donblancoaventuras posted a video using one of Pollo's viral sounds on the platform in a comedy skit (shown below, right), amassing over 340,000 plays and 60,000 likes in a month.

As of October 6th, 2023, the hashtag "#freedonpollo" accumulated over 1.4 million views in total.^[6]
