Overview

Chance Perdomo Motorcycle Accident, also known as Chance Perdomo's Death, refers to a motorcycle crash involving British-American actor Chance Perdomo in late March 2024. Perdomo’s publicist confirmed his passing in a statement to the press but didn't disclose the location of his death. The news became a viral topic on Twitter / X and TikTok as fans of the actor mourned his sudden passing, while others reminded some of his controversies, alleging the actor was taken out of Gen V new season trailer because of his anti-vaccine statements and that the actor purportedly followed incel accounts that often posted transphobic, racist and misogynistic content.

On March 30th, 2024, the X[1] page @DiscussingFilm shared that British-American actor Chance Perdomo "sadly passed away at the age of 27 in a motorcycle accident." The post amassed more than 220,000 likes and 59,000 retweets in a day (seen below).

Perdomo's publicist confirmed the British-American actor’s death Saturday in a statement to Variety,[2] saying, “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Chance Perdomo’s untimely passing as a result of a motorcycle accident. Authorities have advised that no other individuals were involved. His passion for the arts and insatiable appetite for life was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth will carry on in those who he loved dearest. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their beloved son and brother.”

Online Reactions

Online, fans expressed their condolences about the news of the actor's passing. For example, on March 30th, 2024, the X[3] page @CultureCrave posted a statement from the producers of the Amazon Prime show Gen V, which stated, "We are sorry for Chance's family, and we are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague." The post (shown below, left) received roughly 17,000 likes and 1,800 retweets in a day.

On the same day, X[4] user @ExorcisingErica posted a tribute for the actor, expressing their love for his role in Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina as the character Ambrose Spellman. The post (shown below, right) amassed more than 1,800 likes and 269 retweets in a day.

Anti-Vaccine and Other Allegations

While many fans mourned the actor's death, some users on social media brought up controversies surrounding Perdomo as his death spread online. For instance, The Daily Mail[5] article reported that "he'd been edited out of a trailer over 'controversial' views, including liking anti-vax tweets, as well as following misogynistic influencer Andrew Tate online."

On March 30th, 2024, X[6] user @callmekioto tweeted about the actor, saying " he actively followed and interacted w right wing incel accounts that often posted transphobic, racist, and misogynistic content," which amassed more than 300 likes and 129 retweets in a day (shown below, top).

On the same day, X[7] user @erinulmers posted about Perdomo's demise using the Smoking Duck meme paired with the caption "at the end of the day he was an incel following transphobic & misogynistic accounts," which garnered over 50 likes and 10 retweets in a day (shown below, bottom).
