Cardi B and Tomi Lahren Feud refers to Tomi Lahren's reaction to singer/rapper, Cardi B's, recent Instagram post regarding the 2018-2019 Government Shutdown which lead to an argument between the two celebrities on Twitter.

Background

On January 16th, 2019, Cardi B posted a video to Instagram voicing her frustration with the federal government shutdown of 2018-2019 (shown below). She defended Obama and criticized President Trump for "ordering and summoning federal government workers to go back to work without getting paid."[2] The video gained over 10 million views within the first day.



That same night, senators Brian Schatz, Chris Murphy and Chuck Schumer[1] Tweeted in response to Cardi's post debating whether or not to retweet her video (shown below).



Cardi responded later that night with a Tweet asking, "Why am I trending?" which was retweeted over 9,000 times and liked by 137,000 Twitter users within 24 hours (shown below).

Developments

On January 16th, 2019 Tomi Lahren responded[3] to Cardi B's Instagram post on Twitter sarcastically labeling Cardi as the perfect spokesperson for the Democratic party (shown below). The tweet garnered 3,000 retweets and 21,000 likes within a week.



Cardi responded four days later on January 20th by saying she would "dog walk" (shown below). The tweet gained over 183,000 retweets and over 780,000 likes within a day.



A few hours later Lahren responded with a tweet that gained over 4,000 retweets and 28,000 likes during that day (shown below).



Cardi's response gained over 180,000 retweets and 750,000 likes (shown below).



Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to Twitter to defend Cardi (shown below). The tweet[4] accumulated 22,339 retweets and 173,515 likes that day.



Lahren then attacked Ocasio-Cortez with a tweet that gained 4,320 retweets and 9,257 likes (shown below).
