Overview

Alinity's Nip Slip refers to a clip of Twitch streamer Alinity accidentally revealing her left nipple during a live stream. Alinity subsequently received a one-day ban from the platform, which sparked debates about whether her punishment should have been different and prompted jokes about the Twitch moderation team giving her special treatment.

Background

On April 24th, 2020, Twitch streamer Natalia ‘Alinity’ Mogollon lifted her shirt and revealed her left nipple while playing Just Dance on stream, violating Twitch Terms of Service. On the same day, the clip was posted to /r/LivestreamFail^[1] subreddit where it received over 13,200 upvotes in three days.

Developments

On the same day, YouTuber KEEMSTAR tweeted^[2] about the incident, complaining that Alinity did not receive a ban. Also on the same day, /r/LivestreamFail post was removed due to a copystrike issued by Alinity.

On April 25th, 2020, Alinity^[3][4] was banned from Twitch for a period of 24 hours. Also on the same day, KEEMSTAR^[5] reviewed the controversy in a DramaAlert episode.

Online Reactions

Following the spread of the clip, multiple users on Reddit, Twitter and other websites commented that Alinity should be subjected to a ban, also recounting her previous violations of the Twitch Terms of Service, a number of which did not end up in a ban (example posts shown below).

Following the ban announcement, numerous users online expressed opinions that a one-day ban was not sufficient punishment, comparing the decision against harsher actions taken by Twitch against other streamers in the past. A number of posts contained jokes and speculations that Twitch moderation team applied different standards to Alinity's behavior.
