Es Zeus is a Spanish-langue meme based on a song and music video by YouTubers Pascu y Rodri. In the song, Zeus' sexual exploits are recounted, depicting him as a predator. Online, people have used images from the video to recreate the joke in other contexts.

Origin

On July 27, 2019, the YouTube channel Pascu y Rodri posted an animated music video about Zeus. In the video, Zeus tricks people into sexual situations as the song repeats the refrain "Es Zeus." After successfully deceiving a victim, the video shows Zeus with a devilish look upon his face. The post received more than 3.5 million views in one week (shown below).

Spread

Following the release of the video, images from the clip began appearing in various memes. For example, on July 30th, Facebook [1] user memesdeJojoyJojozuelas2 edited into an image from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The post received more than 290 reactions and 60 shares in one week (shown below, left).

The following day, Facebook[3] user DragonNoiroficial posted a variation of the meme. The post received more than 6,000 shares, 1,500 reactions and 370 comments in one week (shown below, center)

On August 2nd, Memedroid[2] user Red13._- posted a variation of the Swords United meme that references Zeus. The post received more than 1,000 points in one week (shown below, right).


Various Examples


Jupiter

In December 28 2019 a video called _ Es Jupiter_ was released, essentially replacing all mentions of "Zeus" with Jupiter (as well as other words, just as "Kronos" with "Saturn", "dog" with "Canis lupus familiaris" and "Granddaughter" with "Daughter") in a half-assed way.
