Epicardo, La Compramos, translation, "Epic, we bought it," is a phrase associated with an image of Kevin Chamberlin as Bertram from the Disney television series Jessie in a series of Spanish image macros. The meme was started in August 2020 by Instagram user Kirbycio, gaining considerable popularity over the course of the year.

Origin

On August 26th, 2020, Instagram[1] user @kirbycio posted an image macro reading, "47 people died in this house," followed by, "the family in the horror movie:" and a low-res image of Bertram from the American Disney show Jessie, played by Kevin Chamberlin, with crossed arms and text translating to, "epic, we bought it" (shown below). The image gained over 16,500 likes in eight months.

The image was reposted to Instagram[2] and Facebook[3] a number of times over the course of the year, some posts garnering considerable interaction.

Spread

On November 19th, 2020, the Facebook[6] page for Red Frog Vegan Bar, a bar in Mexico, posted a version of the meme replacing Chamberlin's head with a red-tinted Pepe head (shown below).

On January 8th, 2021, Instagram[4] user @ptojavi posted a Wojak comic comparing shopping with your mother to your father. When shopping with their mother, the kids show her a bag of chips, saying, "it only has 5 grams of salt," yet she refuses to buy it for them. When shopping with their father, the kids show him a product that says, "product imported from Turkmenistan, do not consume," and the father, a cutout of Bertram from kirbycio's meme, says, "epic, we bought it" (shown below). The post gained over 26,000 likes in three months.

The meme was shared a number of times on social media, notably by Instagram[5] page randomemes on January 19th, garnering over 36,500 likes in three months. On February 25th, Instagram[7] meme page @enojao_posting_ posted a new image macro featuring the image of Bertram saying the phrase (shown below). The meme translates to, "'Cigarettes: shows a photo of a dying woman and her son crying because she's going to die.' 'Smokers: Epic, we bought it.'" The meme was reposted by Instagram[8] page @elbuenshitpost that day, garnering over 25,000 likes in two months.

The cutout of Bertram saying "epicardo, los compramos" resulted in numerous memes over the next two months, becoming a fairly popular format on Spanish meme pages.
