"RIP Harambe" refers to a rap song performed by rapper Yung Jake and releasedby American entrepreneur Elon Musk under a fake label Emo G Records on Soundcloud on March 30th, 2019. The song is dedicated to Harambe the Gorilla, who became a popular internet meme after being shot dead on May 28th, 2016, in Cincinnati Zoo.
Origin
On March 30th, Elon Musk released a rap song titled "RIP Harambe" on Soundcloud under fake label Emo G Records, presumably performed by the entrepreneur.[1] At the same time, the entrepreneur changed his twitter handle to Jung Musk and posted a series of tweets related to the song.[2] The song accumulated over 910,000 streams on Soundcloud in two days.
R.I.P Harambe, sippin' on some Bombay, we on our way to Heaven, amen, amen.
Two tweets posted by Elon Musk[3] and musician-producer BloodPop[4] on March 31st suggested that the song was produced by the musician and co-written by Caroline Polachek and emoji artist Yung Jake.
