On November 28th, 2022, Elon Musk posted a photo of his bedside table to Twitter,[1] writing, "My bedside table" (shown below). The photo shows four empty cans of Diet Coke on the table, a revolver, a flintlock pistol in a case and a Buddhist vajra.[4] The revolver is purportedly a cosplay model of the Diamondback from TF2 or Otar's Revolver from Deus Ex. [5][6] The tweet gained over 402,000 likes and 26,000 retweets in roughly six hours, and just 10 minutes after posting, Musk commented under the tweet, "There is no excuse for my lack of coasters."

In the hours after Musk posted the tweet on November 28th, 2022, people began making memes referencing it. The majority of memes see users copy-paste the post text over an image of another bedside table, either their own or one with absurd things on it. For example, roughly two hours after Musk's tweet, Twitter[2] user @andrewhunterm posted a photo of a toy gun under the quote, garnering over 200 likes in under a day (shown below).



Roughly three hours after the post on November 28th, Twitter[3] user @wolverhamp10 then posted a Simpsons meme referencing the tweet, garnering over 13,500 likes in under a day (shown below).
