Egg Plural refers a copypasta and a forced meme based on the nonsensical phrase "egg plural". The copypasta originated on Hummus Gang Discord server on April 21st, 2019, and was spread by meme pages on Instagram, Facebook and other social networks in the following days.
Origin
On April 21st, 2019, Hummus Gang discord server users SoiledX#4548 and ForTheTeam#9824 posted several memes containing the phrase "Egg Plural" based on popular meme formats (examples shown below).[1]
Spread
In the next 48 hours, SoiledX#4548, ForTheTeam#9824 and other Hummus Gang users posted more memes using the phrase, as well as spammed it on the server (examples shown below).
Starting on April 21st, 2019, members of the Discord server shared multiple "Egg Plural" memes on Instagram, Reddit and other online platforms. For example, Instagram user meme_hummus (SoiledX#4548) submitted multiple memes to their page, with several posts accumulating over 2,000 likes in two days.[2][3] Facebook page Uncreative sub-quality memes shared more examples of the meme, with the highest-upvoted instance getting over 40 likes in one day.[4]
